Schedule:
6/16 – DAY 0: Depart from Chicago or Other Airports
6/17 – DAY 1: Arrival at Delhi
Reception at the airport; transfer to hotel for an overnight stay.
6/18 – Day 2: Full day Visit Delhi
We will drive to Chandni Chowk to explore the spice market, take part in a rickshaw ride, and visit The Red Fort. We will also visit Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India if time permits. We will spend the night in our hotel.
6/19 – DAY 03: Flight from Delhi to Kullu. Drive to Vashisht (60kms/2000m)
Transfer to domestic airport for our flight to Kullu. We will them drive to Vashisht. It will take about an hour and a half to reach Vashisht. We will check into the Family House we will be staying at once we arrive. Free after to explore Vashisht Village! In the evening, we will partake in a Yoga or Meditation Class.
6/20 – DAY 04: Yoga and Hiking to Jogini Waterfall
After breakfast and morning Yoga, we will go on a guided walk to Jogini Falls. These falls are beautiful and line the wall of the valley from Vashisht. The falls empty into the Beas River. In the evening, we will partake in a meditation class. We will then have dinner and spend the rest of the night in the Family House.
6/21 – Day 5: Yoga, Temple Visit and Village walk
After breakfast and morning Yoga, we will visit the Goshal Village, Old Manali and the beautiful Hadimba Temple. The Temple is very old and surrounded by the tall cedar pine trees on the edge of Dhungri village. According to legends, Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers, fell in love with an aboriginal woman named Hadimba and married her. On your own time, you can take a rickshaw back to Vashisht. We will have dinner upon our arrival, and either spend the night in the family house or a hotel. We will finish our evening with a meditation class.
6/22 – Day 6: Yoga and free Visit
We will have Yoga in the morning and then you will be able to explore on your own for the day. Feel free to partake in a massage or other adventure activities.
6/23 – Day 7: Manali to Keylong (115km/2850 m), or Jispa (40kms). 6 hour drive.
We will take an uphill drive along the Beas river to Rohtang pass (3950 m). We will drive through Koksar and continue through several villages to Keylong, the headquarter of tribal District of Lahaul and Spiti. The evening will be free for you to do as you please, and we will spend the night in a hotel.
6/24 – DAY 8: Keylong to Sarchu (4253m) over Baralachala la (4800m/90 km). 4 hour drive.
A scenic drive leads to Jispa, which we will stop at for a short visit. We will continue our ride to Sarchu. Our route will be lined with glaciers and scenic forest. We will spend our night in a deluxe camp.
6/25 – DAY 9: Sarchu to Leh (3600m/250 km). 8 hour drive.
We’ll leave the vast Sarchu plateau and take an uphill drive to Namkila (4950 m). Once at the top, we will be over Lachulangla (5090 m), and descend to the gorge of Gangla Jal to Pang. Descend to the valley passing by several villages of Ladakh and reach Leh in the evening.
6/26 – Day 10: Explore Leh and Afternoon Free Time
Visit Shanti Stupa monastery in the town and an old fort of Leh. We will explore the town in the afternoon and spend the night in a hotel.
6/27 – DAY 11: Around Leh – Full day visit
Visit Shey, Thiksey and Hemis monasteries. We’ll have a full day of sight-seeing at the monasteries of Ladakh, and stay at the hotel in the evening.
6/28 – Day 12: Drive to Stok Village and hike around village.
Drive to Stok. We’ll spend the day exploring Stok. In the evening, we’ll return to Leh to stay in our hotel.
6/29 – DAY 13: Leh to Khardungla Pass to Leh (5540 m).
We’ll drive up the mountain to the Khardungla Pass. At that height, one must be mindful of altitude sickness! We’ll reach on the top of the highest motor-able pass in the world and enjoy the magnificent view of Himalayas and its valleys. We’ll arrive back at Leh in the afternoon and enjoy a free lunch. The day will end in our hotel, which we’ll stay in for the night.
6/30 – DAY 14: Leh to Delhi Airport
Transfer to domestic airport, flight to Delhi, on arrival in Delhi transfer to the hotel; Hotel check in after 12 am. A room will provide you for day use only. In the evening, you’ll transfer to airport for your flight home.
7/1 – Day 15 : Arrival in Chicago or Other Airports
